What is Brills?
Brills is an app made to help you quickly calculate your disposable income.
Basically, you tell Brills how much money you earn per month, then you give it a list of your monthly outgoings—phone bills, car insurance payments, magazine subscriptions, all that stuff. Then, Brills will deduct all that stuff from your income and tell you how much money you have left to spend on… everything else you want in life. That's it. It's not a complicated or powerful application, but its simplicity is where its strength lies.
It’s also important to note that the information you enter never leaves Brills servers. Brills doesn’t connect to any third party services or financial institutes, and if you decide to delete your account, all your data will be deleted immediately too.
What information do you need from me?
To sign up, all Brills needs from you is a name, email address and password. Then you tell Brills approximately how much money you'll earn each month, as well as your fixed outgoing costs—things like phone bills and whatnot.
While the information you give to Brills is stored securely in a database, only your password is encrypted. Information about your income and outgoings is stored as-is, so in the unlikely event that the database is compromised, that data will be visible.
However, we aren't storing any sensitive data like credit card numbers or addresses. We just need to let you know. If you are looking for something with high level security and a lot more features, check out Mint.
Will you ever contact me?
Right now, Brills doesn’t send you a single email (apart from if you reset your password). The reason we ask for your email address is so that you can log in and just in case we want to send you any information about important things relating to Brills.
If we do start sending out emails, we'll give you the chance to opt-out by signing into your account and changing your email preferences.
How do I change my income and other information?
That's easy too. Just click on Account at the top of the page in order to change your account information.
Can I delete my account?
If you don't want to use Brills any more, just go to your Account and click 'Delete Account'. Confirm you want to delete your account, and it'll completely remove you from our system.
Help! My currency isn't in your list!
Not a problem. If you want a currency adding that isn't there already, simply tweet @brillsapp and let me know. I'll try my best to add it to Brills shortly.
